To start the Black Box Builder, type AESYMBUILD on the command line with the basic block opened as a standard dwg. You will need to add these attributes to your new blocks IF they don't already have them before ACADE will be able to use them properly. I recommend the Black Box Builder to add the attributes over the newer (but more confusing) Symbol Builder. You will need to read the help system and rename the blocks according to the conventions otherwise you will have problems.Īnother thing to be aware of is that ACADE makes use of attributes to do a lot of the functions.
Now before you rush off and add all your new blocks, you need to do some prep work on the blocks.įor starters, ACADE uses several different naming conventions depending on the block type. So it will find a block in the Custom Blocks directory before it finds the same block in the AS2 directory. This list is the order that ACADE will search for the blocks. However, the Custom Blocks directory is above the AS2 directory. I use a directory called CUSTOM BLOCKS for my custom schematic symbols and LAYOUT with various sub directories for my footprint blocks.Īs you can see above, I have all my blocks on J:\Autocad\Blocks (network drive) and the library I use is the AS2 library. You can place the blocks in those locations but it is recommended that you add another directory for any blocks you add rather than using the standard library locations.
OK, if you bring up the Project Properties and look at the Project Settings tab, you will find entries for the locations of the Schematic Libraries and Footprint Libraries.
